1.Theatre Works!
This summer, our friends Mark and Connie Anderson,
took the reins
at Theatre Works! – a community theatre based out of
Woonsocket, RI.
We interviewed them about the new experience:
Q: How did you get involved with Kaleidoscope
Theatre?
CONNIE: We met David at our auditions for Annie back
in
November 2002. We became fast friends during that
time and
David had invited us to get involved with
Kaleidoscope.
Q: What roles have you done with Kaleidoscope in the
past?
CONNIE: I've played the Queen of Hearts in "Alice",
Grandma/Mama in "Little Red", Mama in "Hansel &
Gretel",
Flora in "Beauty & the Beast," and the Wicked
Stepmother in "Cinderella".
MARK: He's played the Mad Hatter/Caterpillar in
"Alice",
Papa in "Hansel & Gretel", Father in "Beauty & the
Beast",
has directed and built the set for "Rapunzel" and
Papa in
"Heidi". He also played the role of the father in "Pinnochio".
Q: How did you become involved with Theatre Works?
CONNIE: I was one of the first members of Theatre
Works and
have been involved since 1983. It was the first
theater company
established in Woonsocket.
MARK: I became involved in November 1992 when they
were
looking for men for PERFECTLY FRANK. I never left.
Q: What challenges do you face getting the company
into the
new space and up and running?
CONNIE: The biggest challenge is getting everything
ready for
opening night, which is September 22. So far we are
forging
ahead in a timely manner, but there is so much more
to do.
We have a great group of helpers and a great Board
of
Directors. We are committed and ready.
For more information about Theatre Works check out
their
Website at : http://www.twri.org/
Their new season opens on September 22, 2006 with “Nunsense”.
We wish our friends Connie and Mark all the best!

3.Meet the Kaleido-staff
All our actors get great satisfaction from your
applause at the
end of a show; however, their performances would not
be
possible without the hard work of a competent
technical
staff to support them. To acknowledge their
contributions
to our very successful summer season, we interviewed
each of
them about their experiences working at
Kaleidoscope.
ROB FERLAND is our Technical Director and has been
working
with us for 7 ˝ years. He was originally hired by
Carol Cullen (who
was then the Artistic Director) to light the full
length version of our
musical “Heidi”. During the run of that show, he
happened to fix a
technical problem, and he has been the Technical
Director since.
When asked, Rob says that the best part of working
at Kaleidoscope
is the people. “You feel like part of a family,
especially with the rest of
the staff.” His favorite memory from his time with
the company is
when the show “Rapunzel” toured down in New Jersey.
“It was the
perfect blend of work and fun!” Rob’s favorite
Kaleidoscope shows
(in order) are: “Rapunzel”, “Frog Prince”,
“Goldilocks”, and
“Cinderella”.
STEPH DE QUATTRO is one of our Stage Manager for
this
summer, working on “Snow White”, “Goldilocks”, and
“Little
Red Riding Hood”. This is her first summer with
Kaleidoscope
but she’s enjoying the experience, especially when
she got to
play the rear half of the cow in “Jack and the
Beanstalk” for a
press photo! Her Favorite show she’s seen, so far,
is “Goldilocks
and the Three Bears.”
MARY CONCANNON is another one of our Stage Managers
and
has been for three years – this year she worked on “Rapunzel”.
She
got involved in Kaleidoscope through her friends
Connie and Mark
Anderson. She continues to ‘bear with us’ because
it’s fun and she
likes all the people. Like Rob, her favorite Kaleido-memory
is
Rapunzel’s trip through NJ during which they saw a
production
of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoats”.
Her favorite
two shows in our repertoire are “Rapunzel” and
“Cinderella”.
CHRIS COURNOYER has recently been promoted to
Assistant
Technical Director, meaning he gets to follow Rob
around and
learn everything he can about sound. Chris has been
a part of
Kaleidoscope for three years. He was originally a
volunteer
helper at the Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket, RI and
was
recruited by us from there. When asked what he likes
best about
working at Kaleidoscope, “I mean everything – cool
people- and
it’s stuff I really enjoy doing – a win win
situation. It also gets me
good experience for a possible career choice.”
Chris’ favorite
shows are “Rapunzel” and “Rumplestitlskin”.
This is JEFFREY CESANA's first summer with
Kaleidoscope
Theatre. He volunteered his time to work the light
board for all
our performances at the Stadium Theatre this summer.
He
thoroughly enjoyed his time learning about the
lights and looks
forward to Kaleidoscope’s return to the Stadium in
December
so he can help out again. His favorite show from
this summer
was “Heidi” because “the actors really knew what
they were
doing.”
Aside from the three Stage Managers, each show this
summer
had an Assistant Stage Manager, or “ASM”; they were
as follows:
Michael Marchek, Brendan Macera, Patrice Roberts,
and
Alex Whitney, with additional help from Haley
Theroux and
Jeff Oviginian. We’d like to thank all of them for
their hard work!
4. $100 Coupon

patrons that
