Kaleidoscope Theatre Newsletter - Volume 3, Number 3 - March 2007

Hello and welcome to the newest issue of Kaleidoscope Theatre's online newsletter! First off, we’d like to thank everyone who auditioned for us on March 4th; the turnout was amazing and many new and talented performers will soon be joining the Kaleidoscope Theatre family!

With so many wonderful events taking place here at Kaleidoscope, we’re so excited to keep you all informed! Remember, for more up to date information about Kaleidoscope Theatre, you can check out our two online blogs at:
www.kscopetheatre.blogspot.com (for general news)
www.kaleidonews.blogspot.com (for our members)

In this issue, we’d like to update you on our "Cinderella's Holiday Ball" coloring book/ CD project and extend a special ‘thank you’ to the illustrator Molly Rodman and to Russ Martin at Viscount Studios. We’d also like to announce that Kaleidoscope will now be offering Birthday Party
packages that feature the performance of one or more of our show characters!

In this issue you can read about:
1. Kaleidoscope Theatre’s Summer Series 2007!
2. Birthday Party Packages
3. Thank you Molly and Russ!
4. Congratulations, Rob!
5. Supporting our members – Other venues to feature the
many talents of our performers

1. SUMMER SERIES 2007!

We are pleased to announce the titles for our upcoming 2007 Summer tour! This year’s series will include: “Snow White,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Cinderella,” “Cinderella, Too!” “The Frog Prince,” “The Three Pigs,” “Little Red Ridinghood,” and “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” For
more information regarding dates and venues, please check out our website!
*(Please note that tickets may not yet be on sale for our series at some venues.)*

This summer marks the world premiere of a brand new Kaleidoscope Theatre fairytale: “Cinderella, Too!” The story picks up right where our original production
of “Cinderella” leaves off, with Cinderella and Prince Charming planning their royal wedding! Come see what happens when a Spanish Ambassador shows up, and Stepmother and Cinderella's Stepsisters start some mischief. This brand new musical is filled with all of the joy, laughter, and excitement that Kaleidoscope Theatre is known for, and is sure to be a ton of fun for everyone!

2. BIRTHDAY PARTY PACKAGES!

If your child is a fan of our performances, you can now bring their favorite Kaleidoscope character to life at their birthday party! Our varying packages include: character appearances,
storybook readings, games, and performances of Kaleidoscope music. For more information, check out the new 'Birthday Party Packages' section of our website!

3. THANK YOU MOLLY AND RUSS!

At this time, we’d like to thank RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) student Molly Rodman for her wonderful work on the upcoming “Cinderella’s Holiday Ball” coloring book project.
The coloring book, along with a corresponding music CD, should be on sale this coming holiday season at the Kaleidoscope Theatre concession stand and CVS stores nation-wide! For a sample of Molly’s amazing line art, take a peek at our Official Kaleidoscope Theatre Blog – www.kscopetheatre.blogspot.com!

Another ‘thank you’ goes out to Russ Martin of Viscount Studios. Russ was wonderfully helpful in making our recording process a huge success! For more information about Viscount Studios,
check out their homepage at www.viscountrecords.com!

4. CONGRATULATIONS, ROB!

We're so excited to announce that Kaleidoscope Theatre's Own Technical Director, Rob Ferland (a 2005 RIC graduate), has been named the Interim Technical Director for the Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts at Rhode Island College. The Nazarian Center contains four theatrical spaces, including the Helen Forman Theatre, the Little Theatre, Sapinsley Hall, and Roberts Hall Auditorium – the summer home of Kaleidoscope Theatre!

Here's a couple of interesting tidbits to get to know Rob a little better… Rob has been working at Kaleidoscope for over eight years and was named the company's Technical Director in 2000. He saw his first Kaleidoscope show at age 5. At the age of 7 (at a performance of “Snow White”),
he told Managing Director Bob Zannini that he would one day would work for Kaleidoscope as their Tech Director, and 12 years later, it happened! His favorite Kaleidoscope show to date is "Rapunzel".

To find out even more…check out our online ‘blog (to which Rob contributes) at www.kscopetheatre.blogspot.com!

5. SUPPORT OUR MEMBERS
When not working with Kaleidoscope Theatre, our members bring their varied talents to other venues. Here's a sampling of productions that will feature our members in the upcoming months (in chronological order):

A. Mark Anderson, last seen at Kaleidoscope as the Grandfather in “Heidi” will be directing “Forever Plaid” at Theatre Works up in Woonsocket, RI. This production will run March 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25 and will feature the performance of Joshua Smith as Jinx. Josh was seen as the
Cheshire Cat in our most recent production of “Alice in Wonderland.” For tickets, please call (401) 766-1898, option 1.

B. Eric Desnoyers, last seen at Kaleidoscope as the Prince in "Cinderella's Christmas", will be directing "James and the Giant Peach", this month for Encore Repertory Company. Cameron Connaughton (Doc in "Snow White" and Pinocchio in "Pinocchio") was cast as James. This show will be presented at the Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket, RI from March 23-25.
For up to date information about this production, visit Encore's website at www.encorerepco.org.

C. Also that weekend will be the opening of "All Shook Up" at Bishop Hendricken High School,
which will feature a performance by Graham Duff in the role of "Dennis"--the young aspiring dentist. Graham was last seen on the Kaleidoscope Theatre stage as Jack in "Jack & the Beanstalk" last summer. This production will run March 23, 24, 30, and 31 at 7:00pm and March 25 at 2:00pm.

D. Jamie Dellorco, last seen as Putricia in "Cinderella's Christmas", along with fellow Kaleidoscopian Michael Marchak, has been cast in the Academy Players production of "A Chorus Line". For those familiar with this play, Jamie will be playing Bebe and Michael will be Mark. Production dates are April 20-22 and 26-29. For more information, check out their website,
www.academyplayers.org.

E. Also in April, numerous Kaleidoscopians (including Jen Drummond, Justin Robinson and Jillian Rivers-Keegan), will perform in “Damn Yankees” at Rhode Island College. Performance dates are April 19-22. For more information or to order tickets, please contact the RIC Box Office at
