THANK YOU, JERRY VENTRE For many years, Jerry Ventre and the John E. Moran Foundation have been major supporters of Kaleidoscope's "I'm Special, You're Special" school-touring production. "I'm Special, You're Special" is one of Kaleidoscope's most acclaimed presentations. Touring for over 20 years, the show follows the story of David Brown, a boy with Down Syndrome, as he is included into a public school. The John E. Moran Foundation benefits individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Kaleidoscope has used grants received from this fund to promote messages of tolerance and inclusion by presenting "I'm Special" to many local schools that could not otherwise afford the production. Thank you, Jerry, for your continued support! Kaleidoscope recently received another grant from the John E. Moran Foundation. If you know a school that could benefit from funding, please call our office at (401) 942-3637. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. A NEW HOME FOR CINDERELLA Thanks to funding from RISCA (the RI State Council on the Arts), Cinderella will be getting a new home this summer! Kaleidoscope will be partnering with Providence scenic artist Laura McPherson to produce a brand-new kitchen drop for the show! This new piece of art will replace an older decaying scrim that has been used as Cinderella's cottage home since the 1990s.
Members of Kaleidoscope Theatre will
be assisting McPherson in creating the backdrop,
giving them a phenomenal learning opportunity in how
a backdrop is designed and painted. This exciting
project is sure to be an awarding and educational
experience for everyone involved. Volunteers will
get a chance to learn about color mixing, math
layout, style interpretation, sampling techniques
(including sponge, stencil, stamp, ragroll,
spattering, etc.), usage of brushes and sprayers,
and more! |
