RECORDING BULLY
Last month, we announced plans to record a live
production of the school-touring play "B.U.L.L.Y."
(Better Understanding by Listening and Learning
about You). Four
performances of the show were filmed at different
elementary schools throughout Rhode Island. During
each show, three camera operators filmed the show
from different
locations, giving us sufficient footage to best
capture the many facets of the live production on
film. Now that the production has been recorded, the
editing process has
begun. Our intern, Cameron Marcotte, a student at
the Met School, is managing the editing process.
With footage from three cameras at four different
shows, Cameron sure has his work cut out for him!
Here's what he had to say about it:
"Editing is not an easy task. The
process we are using to make this film
involves matching the video from the
three cameras, as well as dubbing in
audio tracks created directly from the
actors' microphones. Because of this,
with every clip I work on, I need to
make sure the actors' lips and movements
match up to the audio – which is way
more difficult than it sounds! The
program I am
using is Windows Movie Maker, a video
editor that is both
simple and effective. When editing, I
have three different
camera angles to work with, meaning I
need to combine or change footage from
different cameras every ten or so
seconds. Although the work is hard, it's
quite fun and challenging, and the
result is starting to look really
fantastic!" |
Special thanks for this film go out to our camera
operators (Lon Cerel, Ryan Hanley, Dorothy Frechette,
Stephen Marcotte, and Cameron Marcotte), our
performers
(Christopher Breene, Michael Ferron, Dan Walsh,
Nicolina Botelho, Aurora Lefebvre, Chantel
Venkataraman, Sam Hood, James Lambert, Ben Craven,
Kathrine Barnes, Krista-Louise Genereux, and Amber
Johnson), and our technical providers (Sam Hood, and
Brian Mills and the Met School) for loaning their
time and equipment to this project! Stay tuned for
more updates in the coming months!
