1. FAIRYTALES IN THE PARK

On Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Roger Williams National Park in Providence, RI, Kaleidoscope Theatre will perform the musical production “Goldilocks & the Three Bears!” Showtime is 3:00pm and the performance will be preceded by character appearances by Snow White at 2:00pm and Cinderella at 2:30pm! For more information, please call Kaleidoscope Theatre at (401) 942-3637.

To begin the festivities, fan-favorite characters Snow White and Cinderella will be reading their stories, singing songs, greeting audience members, and posing for photographs. Snow White will arrive to tell her story at 2:00pm and Cinderella will follow at 2:30pm.

The Three Bears will arrive at 3:00pm. Kaleidoscope Theatre's “Goldilocks & the Three Bears” is an original musical

adaptation that has been performed for over twenty-five years.  Come with us on a delightful romp through the traditional tale of Goldilocks, but be prepared for a new twist at the end. Did you ever wonder what happened after

Goldilocks ran all the way home? Join us on September 19th to find out!

Kaleidoscope is very excited to be bringing live theater to such a beautiful outdoor space. Remember, September 19th is also a night for Waterfire at nearby Waterplace Park, so plan to make a day of it in Providence!

 2. MONTHLY FAIRYTALE SERIES CONTINUES!

Although the summer series is over for this year, Kaleidoscope will continue to present a new fairytale each month at the

Saugus Senior Center! Tickets are $12 and audience members receive a free ice cream. The ice cream is not the only perk when performing at this venue. Jamie Dellorco, the actress who plays Snow White and who has appeared on the Saugus stage several times before, likes how “the Saugus venue is a small intimate space that allows actors to have more direct contact with the audience. I’m looking forward to performing in that theater again.” Come meet Snow White and all seven dwarves up close and personal at our first fall show on September 13th!

The complete monthly series is as follows:

September 13th – “Snow White”

October 11th – “The Three Pigs”

November 8th – “Jack & the Beanstalk”

December 20th – “Little Red’s Christmas”

All shows are 2:00pm on Sundays. To reserve tickets, contact Paul Ryan by emailing Grouptixne@aol.com or by calling

1-781-230-EXPO! We hope to see you there!

3. BULLY – THE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL

This fall, Kaleidoscope Theatre will be collaborating with  P.A.V.E. (Partnership to Address Violence through Education),

Youth Pride RI, and the Silver Lake Community Center to help raise anti-bullying awareness in local high schools. This

collaboration was awarded the Hope 2 Grant, which will help bring Kaleidoscope Theatre's brand-new “B.U.L.L.Y. - The

High School Musical” to ten local high schools in the 2009-2010 touring season.

The Hope 2 Grant is aimed at supporting victims of hate crimes based on sexual orientation or the perception of sexual

orientation of the victims and the new show will include characters who are harassed for those reasons. The show will

also include the variety of other characters and bullying situations that made Kaleidoscope’s original “BULLY” production such a success. The grant will be used to develop mentoring programs, to increase awareness through a public service announcement, and finally to bring performances of “BULLY” to the following schools:

LaSalle Academy

Veterans High School

Pilgrim High School

Tollgate High School

Tolman High School

East Providence High School

Barrington High School

William M. Davies Technical High School

Shea High School

Lincoln High School

Writing an anti-bullying show for high schools has presented Kaleidoscope with new exciting challenges! A new script is

currently being written by David Payton with Marianne Douglas and is incorporating new research and input from local teens, school teachers, and outreach organizations. New music for the show is being orchestrated by the amazing Dan DeLange, who has worked on numerous Kaleidoscope musicals in the past, including: the original “BULLY”, “Cinderella”, “Rapunzel” and most recently, “Cinderella’s Wedding.”

More details about this innovative project will be forthcoming as the collaboration continues. Stay tuned!

5. REMINDER - $100-OFF COUPONS

For anyone who picked up a $100-0ff coupon this summer, we’d like to remind you all to call in and reserve your show dates! These coupons, which are only available at our summer concession stands, can be used to book a school-touring show for any time during the 2009-2010 season... but you must call us by October 15th!

Kaleidoscope has both educational programs and entertaining fairytale productions that regularly tour to schools. Our most popular show is “B.U.L.L.Y. (Better Understanding by Listening and Learning about You)” which teaches lessons on how to deal with bullying situations for grades K-7. “I’m Special, You’re  Special” is an educational show for all ages that celebrates differences by telling the story of Bob Brown, a young man with Down Syndrome who transfers to his brother’s and sister’s public school. Popular fairytales for schools include: “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Jack & the Beanstalk” for grades K-5 and “Goldilocks” for grades K-3. If you would like additional details about any of the shows, please call Kaleidoscope Theatre at (401) 942-3637.
