1. SNOW WHITE Join us this weekend for our musical version of “Snow White.” Come meet this iconic princess and her seven amazing friends…but beware of anyone selling apples! Rhode Island audiences can see this wonderful show on Saturday, November 6th at the Scottish Rites Auditorium (2115 Broad St.) in Cranston, RI. The show begins at 2pm and tickets can be purchased by calling Kaleidoscope Theatre at (401) 942-3637. Admission is $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the performance for stadium seating and $8 in advance and $10 day of show for floor seating. Massachusetts fans can see the same production the following day on Sunday, November 7th at the North Shore Musical Childrens Theatre (466 Central St.) in Saugus, MA. Tickets can be reserved by calling Paul Ryan at (781) 230 - EXPO or by emailing Grouptixne@aol.com. Tickets are $9 in advance and $12 day of show and include a free healthy snack!
2. POCAHONTAS Kaleidoscope Theatre will be performing our historically accurate production of “Pocahontas” at the Holy Family Parish Hall (195 Walcott St.) in Pawtucket, RI on Sunday, November 21st. The show will begin at 4pm and all proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen and Kaleidoscope Theatre. For tickets, call Adrienne Marchetti at Pawtucket Soup Kitchen – (401) 256-3446. Admission is $10 in advance and $12 day of show. Come join Pocahontas as she teaches the audience about preserving nature and respecting the circle of life. This production is a great tie-in to history units and helps illustrate the importance of mutual respect among people and cultures.
3. SNOW WHITE’S CHRISTMAS If you can’t join us this weekend, mark off December 9th in your calendar! “Snow White’s Christmas” will follow the traditional tale of “Snow White”, but it will be set at the most magical time of the year… Come watch Snow White spread holiday cheer to her seven new friends while discovering that the magic of true love can never be vanquished during the holidays. This performance is geared towards school groups and field trips, but individual families are welcome. The show will begin at 10am on Thursday, December 9th and will be performed without an intermission. Call (401) 942-3637 for more information.
4. CINDERELLA’S CHRISTMAS Along with the debut of “Snow White’s Christmas”, Kaleidoscope will be bringing back one of New England’s great holiday traditions! Our 2010 tour of “Cinderella’s Christmas” opens December 4th and runs through December 19th. Even though it’s Christmas Eve, her Stepmother has still given Cinderella plenty of chores to do! The washing, the waxing, and the cleaning are almost done… but will Cinderella finish in time to go to the Prince’s Christmas Ball? Join us at a theatre near you this December to find out! Tour dates: * Saturday, December 4th at the Scottish Rites Auditorium in Cranston, RI. 2pm performance. Tickets on sale now! * Saturday, December 11th at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT. 11am performance. Tickets go on sale November 4th! * Sunday, December 12th at the North Shore Childrens Theatre in Saugus MA. 2pm performance. * Sunday, December 19th at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, MA. 2pm performance.
5. ANTI-BULLYING SUMMIT Kaleidoscope Theatre was a partner in the recent Rhode Island Anti-bullying Summit. The event created quite the buzz all across the state and we had almost 30 cities and towns attend the event! Thank you to everyone who attended and the volunteers who made the event such a success! The Planning Committee is currently in the process of analyzing the data gathered at the summit and will be sharing the findings with all the participants shortly.
6. SUPPORTING OUR MEMBERS Our performers are involved in a wide variety of projects this month. Check them out! Long time Kaleidoscopians, Sandy & Lon Cerel are raising money for the American Cancer Society by joining a Relay For Life team. Sandy is also the chairperson of a Holiday Bazaar on November 20. It will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Church at 1804 Atwood Avenue in Johnston from Noon to 4:30 PM and 6:30 to 8:00 PM. There will be games and prizes for all ages, great homemade food, raffles, baked goods, gift wrapping supplies, handcrafted gifts, and much more. Lon & Sandy will also be offering a brand new team cookbook, featuring "Our Favorite Recipes For Entertaining". This event promises to be fun, festive, and affordable, and it is all for an important cause. Please try to stop by! For more info, call Sandy at 946-3262.
Bob Macaux (Henry in “The Frog Prince” and William in “Jack & the Beanstalk”) is reprising the role of Nephew Fred for the 3rd consecutive year with the Black Box Theater Players’ production of “A Christmas Carol". Aliya Thaler and Kayla Quirk (both from our BULLY program) will also featured. The play opens December 9th and runs through to December 12 at the Artist's Exchange. On December 18 and 19th, the production will be presented at the historic Park Theater. To inquire about tickets, please call (401) 940-9475. When not appearing on our stage as the King in “Cinderella’s Christmas”, Chris Schultz is available to appear as Santa at holiday events and parties. Emily Staples (Ariana in “The Frog Prince”) will be playing the White Queen in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”. This is a Contemporary Theatre Co. (CTC & GEAR) production that will be presented on Nov 20 at 7pm & Nov 21 at 2pm at South Kingstown High school. Check out their website for more information - www.thecontemporarytheater.com/
