This summer, our friends Mark and Connie Anderson,
took the reins
at Theatre Works! – a community theatre based out of
Woonsocket, RI.
We interviewed them about the new experience:
Q: How did you get involved with Kaleidoscope
Theatre?
CONNIE: We met David at our auditions for Annie back
in
November 2002. We became fast friends during that
time and
David had invited us to get involved with
Kaleidoscope.
Q: What roles have you done with Kaleidoscope in the
past?
CONNIE: I've played the Queen of Hearts in "Alice",
Grandma/Mama in "Little Red", Mama in "Hansel &
Gretel",
Flora in "Beauty & the Beast," and the Wicked
Stepmother in "Cinderella".
MARK: He's played the Mad Hatter/Caterpillar in
"Alice",
Papa in "Hansel & Gretel", Father in "Beauty & the
Beast",
has directed and built the set for "Rapunzel" and
Papa in
"Heidi". He also played the role of the father in "Pinnochio".
Q: How did you become involved with Theatre Works?
CONNIE: I was one of the first members of Theatre
Works and
have been involved since 1983. It was the first
theater company
established in Woonsocket.
MARK: I became involved in November 1992 when they
were
looking for men for PERFECTLY FRANK. I never left.
Q: What challenges do you face getting the company
into the
new space and up and running?
CONNIE: The biggest challenge is getting everything
ready for
opening night, which is September 22. So far we are
forging
ahead in a timely manner, but there is so much more
to do.
We have a great group of helpers and a great Board
of
Directors. We are committed and ready.
