Kaleidoscope Children's Theatre

Executive Director:  David Payton received a BS in Engineering in 1971 from the University of Rhode Island, followed by a BA in Theatre Education in 1977 from Rhode Island College. He is certified to teach grades 5- 12 in English, Communications and Theatre.  David worked as a College Admissions Officer at Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island from 1977 to 1980 and he taught in the Seekonk, MA school system at all elementary schools and middle schools from 1980 –81.

David has been the Director of Kaleidoscope Theatre since its inception in 1977.
 

Artistic Director: Tommy Iafrate received a BA in Theatre Performance and Physics (summa cum laude) from Rhode Island College in 2005. For more than nine years, Tommy has worked for Kaleidoscope Theatre in various capacities, assuming the position of Artistic Director in 2005. As a freelance actor, Tommy has performed at Theatre By The Sea in Matunuck, RI and in National/Asian tours of Cabaret for NETworks Entertainment. As a musician, Tommy has performed on Royal Caribbean’s cruise ships, and as a music director for several local productions.  In 2006, Tommy was part of the music department at the Goodspeed Opera House, where he worked with Stephen Schwartz, Marsha Norman, and Richard Maltby, amongst others.
 

Managing Director:  Robert Zannini attended the Rhode Island School of Design and was a Buyer for the Apex Department Store in Providence, RI from 1966 – 1977.

He then owned and operated Antika, an antique shop in Pawtuxet, RI (1977 – 1981) until he became the full time Managing Director of Kaleidoscope Theatre.
 

Technical Director: Rob Ferland received a BA in Technical Theatre (cum laude) with emphasis on Light Design and Technical Direction from Rhode Island College in 2005 and is now the full time Technical Director for the Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts. While at RIC, Rob worked as a “RAT” (Roberts Auditorium Technical Assistant) for five years and worked on several Theatre department shows as the Lighting Designer, including: I Hate Hamlet and The Pirates of Penzance. Although he now works fulltime for the College, Rob still finds the time to work with other local companies including: Kaleidoscope Theatre, Festival Ballet Providence, State Ballet of Rhode Island, and the Caroline Dutra Dance Studio.
